This song takes place at one of my favorite bars Doc’s Clock in the Mission District in San Francisco. The last verse and chorus take place at the famed Farolito tacqueria a few blocks down from the bar. Writing this is making me hungry.
Recording the song was a blast to record and play. Adam, Justin, Tim, and I just kind of hammered it out- I didn’t even have lyrics at this point. We overdubbed Tim playing a second drum track, which is another selfish fan thing of me to do to my bandmate… I just wanted to hear him rock out. And that he did. twice.
Lyrics
The girls of the missionthey smolder
they hypnotize the hipsters each day
but I am hipless
and thus have no game
One time this girl, I consoled her
crying tears into her Chimay
she said
"You're so sweet, you remind me of the brother
that I never had. I don't think we can date"
Take my number
Call my name dear
Run for shelter
From the rain
hear me fall
She put her head on my shoulder
it's like she never took it away
I still feel the warmth of her hair
I've got a chip on my shoulder
drunk and sunk but it's ok
I've got Farolito's
Chile Verde
Take my number
Call my name here
runs, hungover
sunday sleep
hear me fall
