Actually, that’s not really the name for it, but it cracks me up.

So we (Han + Sadie of the Invisible Cities, Gary Chou, and Headzookeeper) bought our “Jet Blue all you can fly for $599 flight buffet” right before the deadline. We realized that flights were going fast, so we cobbled together an itinerary, even though we didn’t have “gigs” booked. It’s definitely a bit of a leap of fate, but at the very least I figure I can visit some great friends in cities I’ve never been to. I think of the SNL “Hanz and Franz” phrase “Believe me now, and hear me later…” We figure if we show up and just start playing places people might listen.

Soon some of these will have confirmed “venues” like art galleries, maybe a music club if we’re lucky… but most likely it’ll boil down to – “hey, are you in (insert appropriate city)? come hang out, have a picnic with us, and we’ll play you some songs!” We plan on webcasting the shows too, so you can watch our antics from the comfort of your own home!

Here’s a rough itinerary, I’m going to be filling in the blanks so expect this to be an evolving list:

9/11 L.A. Tour kickoff at gr/eats 9:30pm
9/12 Houston Cortlandt Street House Concert 7pm
9/13 Austin- Cherrywood Coffeehouse 2pm then fly to L.A.

9/16 L.A.
9/17 Seattle – to watch the Grand Hallway record release show!
9/18 House Concert by University of Washington (details coming soon)
9/19 L.A.Poketo and Origami Vinyl event!7 pm
9/20 L.A. Private event

9/23 back in SF Rickshaw Stop w. Doug Paisley and Lesser Lights

9/24 L.A.
9/25 Chicago
9/26-27 L.A.

9/30-10/4 New York (subject to change)

Thanks to Janice at Jet Blue for patiently and cheerfully booking 4 separate itineraries for all these flights! She’s going to get a shout out in our “jet blue” song soon to come.

Goh

So, in surreal news- I wrote some of the lyrics to the song that plays during the end credits of the movie “Body of Lies” entitled “Bird’s Eye”. I think I played some bass on it too…

The track features the vocals of one of my all time favorite vocalists, Mike Patton of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle fame. This is like a teenage rock fantasy come true for me… (hopefully not a nightmare for him)

I listened to that Mr. Bungle album almost daily during the 90′s, it was one of the most cryptic, delirious, and hilarious albums I had ever been exposed to- kind of like the sonic equivalent of a David Lynch circus movie. It was a much needed antidote to all the bad hair metal I was ingesting at the time. Also of significance is that it was a gateway drug to avant garde composer/musician John Zorn (who produced the Bungle album) and lead me to discover my now favorite guitarist/musician Bill Frisell, who played in Zorn’s bands back in the day.

Also featured is Serj Tankian of System of A Down. I must admit I don’t know much about System, and I’ve definitely never heard him sing like this. I think he sounds great on this track.

Bird’s eye is not on the soundtrack album, but they released it as a single on iTunes- so check it out there.

Of course, I am not credited on this song- putting my name on it is not going to help sell it. However, I was stoked to find someone who saw the movie, like the song enough to email the movie’s publicist and give me a shout out.

Hiedi Ho! (no, this is not a shout out to someone, I’m quoting South Park’s Mr. Hanky)

Lots of stuff brewing…fermenting in the lager tank of my head…
Gigs o’plenty in April- namely a night at the ICAN gallery (independent community arts network).

and a show I’m really excited about on April 30th (friday) at Club Lamia next to Ireland’s 32.

Three of my favorite local artists will be on the bill. I’ll list them as soon as the details are worked out… You won’t be disappointed.

Also- coming up on March 19th is the Locus event w. The SkyFlakes, Annie Lin and Highwire… which is also a Firday Night. It’s nice to play on weekends!

(I guess you can just click on “gigs” above, but I am saving you the trouble. That is love)

Speaking of Love, thank you to everyone who came and made the Blue Rock Shoot shows such a smashing success! There is a recording of that night that I will probably upload to the bootleg page- hopefully this time I’ll have the time to cut up the tracks so they are easier to download! Thanks for buying the homebaked cd’s, I’m getting closer to raise the money to officially “release” the album (meaning mass-duplicating, “mastering” it and getting it out into the physical world)

hmmm… what else?
I need a haircut. It is quickly heading in a direction that is Mulletesque.

Hope this finds you well, and well groomed,

Goh

So, yeah, I got some pictures taken for an upcoming interview (another first!)… hopefully it will get published in a local music publication in May. Cool!

Thanks to he multi-talented/lingual Nathalie R. who has a cool site called Headphonerecord She also sings in the lovely and mighty Scrabbel.

I just played the Locus “Remerge” kickoff event- it was a dream! I felt like I was really in my element and everyone was such a wonderful audience. I’d like to thank everyone who attended and for the kind words that were given to me afterwards. It really touches me and inspires me to hear that you enjoy something that I love doing so much! Thank you for the love! Also, I had the pleasure of meeting and seeing the wonderful band Scrabbel perform. I’ve been a fan from afar for awhile, so hearing them live was a real treat.

Some people approached me about a CD for sale, and unfortunately I don’t have anything at the moment, other than me burning a cd-r for you. I am currently aiming for a “debut album” release asap- within the next month possibly. Please e-mail me if you are interested in ordering one, and I will keep you posted on when that will be out.

Also, a shout out to the peeps at Locus- Sam, Jane, Annie, Gary “Manja.org” who is also monumental in helping me put this site up. You all rule!

Out for now,
