Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows. I’m looking forward to some (hopefully) quiet time and stillness of mind to plan the next few months.

A seance in the dark…
Monday August 23rd 2004, 6:23 pm

I think I played my favorite show ever last night!

it was in the dark (the lights went out after the first song)
it was un amplified (the power went out too)
it was with Han and Sadie of the Invisible Cities
it was recorded!

We’re playing together again- this Thursday the 26th at the Canvas Gallery in the Sunset! 9pm

tomorrow (tuesday): me solo at the Ireland’s 32 (special guests too perhaps…)

Ya’ll know where to find me
Friday August 20th 2004, 4:44 pm

I’ll be playing in Japan town Plaza again- this Sunday 8/22 at noon for Super7store. Tis’ Free!

Later, that evening I’ll be playing at the ICAN GAllery w.The Invisible Cities (Han and Sadie)- meaning I’ll be playing some of their songs with them, and vice versa. ..

Conductor of your sympathies!

turn them into mp3s

Empathize and pass it back to me…

Seize the siege and return the key!

Defeat the man with too many feet,

2 is all he really needs,

Forest of the four

and tryst of trees!

to get her and together we,

end the path and dread the week,

we can roll on weakened knees,

knead the dough and feed the needy,

Needle sews, and so do we,

see the saw and cut to scene,

cutest girl and she did win,

this heart of mine so easily,

she didn’t have to drill or dig,

in mines of coal or diamond rigs,

dyed her hair for monday’s gig,

mundane inn,

day in!

day out!

“day come they grow”

den mothers shout.

We Pal around and pal around in droves

Palindromes

They pale in

comparison

as we compare our sons

to fathers past

Coming up:
6 gigs in the span of 7 days… have I lost my mind?

Saddle up and ride that pony…

Began to write/record songs today - and tried to liken it to painting a picture.

(the last time I painted a picture was in 7th grade)

So from what I remember- first I took a brush and vaguely plotted out the landscape and sky using blobs of color… a mountain here, a friendly little bush there, a water tower in the distance. Then, I’d fill in the details- reflections of the trees in the lake, leaves on the ground, shadows, someone’s lost sunglasses on the picnic bench…
(once I painted Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elmstreet in the background of a nice picnic scene… hey! I was in 7th grade!)

but yeah, painting.

It’s a lot tougher to do with music. Questions arise:
…is this chord foggy enough? Is this key too sunny? Are my words contradicting the picture that the notes are painting?

More later…

My friend, songwriting/home studio genius and all around goodfella Dan Lee has a site up now. He has really raised the bar (and roof) for songwriting/arranging and recording on his latest release 1909 (available through his website). Listening to it makes me wanna work harder. For reals.

I am honored to be a part of his record release party- which is a FREE SHOW at the ICAN gallery on the night of Sunday, August 1.
I’ll be playing a short and sweet 20 minute set. Also, he’ll be screening a movie called “Save the Green Planet” which is also a title of one of the songs on his Cd.

Update

The Music Video Comp. fell through. I think it’s still gonna happen, but I don’t I’m going to be a part of it. Too much drammmaaa.(hhhhh)

The Scrabbel show went awesommmmely (sorry, my new thing is “mmm’s”) and thet just left for Athens,Georgia for a pop-indie-hip-musicfest thing. I’m sure they will melt faces out there.

I got some cool comics from Scrabbel Cello Player Hellen Jo- check out her sssite ahhhhhhh sssssssome…
